The Afro. Well..my take on it. It's not as round as they were in the 70s but it works.
I'm donning one for the time being and it's a nice effortless style that brings out the "watch yo' mouth!" in me, ha! It also makes me wanna watch blaxploitation flicks... I love Pam Grier!
I'm giving rollers a break because I'm noticing that the hair near my hairline has been breaking off a bit..I believe it's the roller setting I've done. So, I'll let that go for a while. You have to be mindful of when things aren't benefiting your hair. So I'll be twisting and braiding more..I'll do roller sets once in a while or for a special event/performance.
Are you taking a break on a setting routine or style that hasn't been benefiting your hair? I gave up puffs too because my hairline doesn't like that style for a long period of time.

I LOVE blaxploitation flicks. And I love the hair. You're like Chaka Khan, but without the crazy.
It's the modern 'Angela Davis'. I like your bangs, I've been contemplating doing them on myself...
I had to give up on any styles that pull at my edges as well. My edges suffered terribly from wearing a puff. I'm currently wearing loose styles (twist outs braid outs). Love them. Your hair looks awesome!
I love big hair! Lovely pics.
Love the lip color & the hair! I'm taking a break in general...cutting my hair. LOL
Thanks all for the lovely words!
@ Desiree, LOL yeah I like big hair but sometimes I need to be able to see over my shoulder.. Chaka knows I love her tho! :)
@ Merely Marie, I think about but my sweetheart may faint if I cut the tresses lol but yes for breaks!
Looks great!
I just started with puff which just looked like a shrunken fro with my length and shrinkage :p
Would twists still stress your edges?
@ JazzFest, I totally know what you mean about the shrunken fro look lol. For the twists, I think as long as you're not twisting too tightly, you'll be fine. They're good for stress-free styling :) I wore them a lot in college and my hair was protected and soft! Make sure to use a good oil or shea butter on the edges!
@ Onyx Rose, sorry missed your comment. thank you! I adore huge hair too!
Love the fro!
@ CoilyChi, why thank you! :)
